Professor Yan Xuetong is the distinguished Professor of Tsinghua University, and Honorary Dean of the Institute of International Relations of Tsinghua University. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 with a PH.D. degree in political science. In 2008, he was named one of the world's top 100 Global Thinkers by the Foreign Policy. From 2014 to 2019, he was the only political science scholar cited by Elsevier. His two books in English Ancient Chinese Thought, Modern Chinese Power (2011) and Leadership and the Rise of Great Powers (2019) were published by Princeton University Press. His latest edited Essence of Interstate Leadership (2023) is published by Bristol University Press. In addition, some of Professor Yan's books have been translated into English, Russian, Japanese, Farsi, Hindi, Korean and Albanian, generating wide international impact.
