Prof. Ayman Ayoub
Head of MENA Division, The Geneva Center for Security Sector GovernanceSpanish lawyer from Syrian origin, Ayman Ayoub is the Head of the Middle East and North Africa Division at the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance - DCAF. From 2011 to 2015 he served as the Regional Director for West Asia and North Africa at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). Mr Ayoub has 30 years of experience in supporting programmes of democratic governance and reform, and the rule of law. He served as senior expert and adviser for the UN system, the European Union and a large number of specialized international organizations. He provided his services in numerous countries in the Middle East and North Africa, East Europe, Africa and Asia. Mr. Ayoub is the author, co-author and editor of a number of handbooks, studies and related knowledge tools. He currently leads DCAF’s teams and programmes across the MENA region, focusing on security sector strategic reforms and governance.
