Prof. Merve Seren
Associate Professor, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt ÜniversitesiMrs. Seren worked as a senior advisor in the Turkish Parliament from 2005 to 2015. She then served as a researcher in Security Studies Department of SETA (2015-2017) and as a senior consultant at STM’s ThinkTech (2017-2018). Since May 2018, Seren has been a lecturer at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and a visiting scholar, teaching intelligence and security issues at various postgraduate institutions.
Seren was accepted into the “U.S. Legislative Fellow” program, co-sponsored by Freedom House and the National Democratic Institute, funded by the U.S. Department of State. She was also selected as a member of the “Atlantic Council’s Young Atlanticist” program and chosen for the “First Middle East Generational Ambassadors Summit” and the “Youth Ministerial Meeting”. Additionally, she was named one of the “2017 Munich Young Leaders”, a joint initiative of the Körber Foundation and Munich Security Conference, and was selected to for the “2018 Taiwan International Elite Leadership” program by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROC (Taiwan). In 2019, she was recognized as a “Southeast Asian Young Leader” by the IISS and invited to participate in the 18th Shangri-La Dialogue.
She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Public Administration, an M.A. in European Union studies, and a Ph.D. in International Security and Terrorism. Her doctoral dissertation focused on strategic intelligence and national security.
