H.E. Sheikh Nawaf bin Mubarak Al Thani

He is the Founder and President of the Council on International Mediation (CIM), a platform dedicated to advancing dialogue, de-escalation, and conflict resolution across arenas of global importance. His work focuses on the strategic pressures shaping the Middle East and the role of small states in geopolitics.
Al-Thani previously represented the State of Qatar as Defense Attaché to the United States, Canada, and Mexico, engaging in diplomatic, military, and strategic coordination. He has held senior positions in defense intelligence, multinational cooperation, and strategic communication. He served as Director of Defense Communication and became the first Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense and the Qatar Armed Forces, leading national messaging during a period of notable development in Qatar’s defense posture.
He is the author of the Arabic-language book قهوة مع قليل من الفاشية (Coffee With a Dash of Fascism) and writes a regular column for Al-Raya newspaper. He lectures on small-state security, mediation, and geopolitics, contributing to policy discussions in academic, diplomatic, and media forums.
