Lyse Doucet
Chief International Correspondent and Senior Presenter, BBC NewsLyse Doucet is a Canadian journalist who is the BBC’s Chief International Correspondent and senior presenter who reports on the BBC’s domestic and global channels as well as news podcasts. Her career began with postings in Abidjan, Kabul, Islamabad, Tehran, Amman, and Jerusalem.
Lyse’s work has been recognized by many media and charity awards including, most recently, the 2024 Chesney Gold Medal from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the 2023 Zenger Award for Press Freedom from the University of Arizona, a 2022 Royal Television Award for Ukraine coverage from Ukraine as part of the BBC News at Ten team, and Broadcaster of the Year from the London Press Club in 2021.
Lyse received an OBE in 2014 in the Queen’s Honours List, and the Order of Canada in 2019. She has a BA Hons from Queen’s University, a Master’s from the University of Toronto, and twenty honorary doctorates from leading British and Canadian universities. She is a senior fellow at U of T's Massey College. Lyse is a founding member of the Marie Colvin Journalists' Network to support Arab women journalists, and a trustee of Friends of Aschiana UK which supports Afghan street children.
