H.E. Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
Chairperson and Founder, The Center for WellbeingDr. Hessa Hamad Khalifa Al-Thani is the Chairperson and Founder of Center for Wellbeing (Al Hayat Al Tayiba) which aims to building collective healing for the individuals and institutions through advance researcher, intervention, and consultation.
She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences, and she was Dean of the College of Education at Qatar University. Al-Thani is passionate about promoting holistic teaching, experiential learning, and incorporating methods related to institutional wellbeing. Her work focuses on learning that is guided by students’ interests, motivations, and their diverse background. Al-Thani is dedicated to exploring and adopting diversified approaches in curriculum transformation to become experiential, entrepreneurial, and collaborative.
Al-Thani participates in university-wide projects to develop new methods of teaching and learning and develop educational program, and empowering students, community members and enhancing family cohesion. Al-Thani focused on initiating policies and programs to promote the wellbeing of families in Qatar, empowering women, motivating children & youth, providing elderly care, and protecting people with special needs.
As part of her professional affiliation with international organizations, Al-Thani’s expertise includes strategic planning, Qualifications and Academic Accreditation, organizational restructuring, community engagement methods, and policy analysis.
Her recent studies have focused on students counseling, the measurement of wellbeing for young adults and establish holistic intervention, innovative programs that focus on building generations of responsible and engaged citizens.
