H.E. Roger Kamba
Minister of Public Health, Hygiene, and Social Welfare, Democratic Republic of CongoDr. Samuel Roger KAMBA is a healthcare professional with over 30
years of solid experience, specializing in pediatrics for more than
22 years. He obtained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kinshasa and his specialization in pediatrics from the University of Picardie in Amiens, France. He is also a
member of the Departmental Council of the Order of Physicians in
Oise, France.
Dr. Kamba holds a university diploma in obesity for children and
adolescents from the Faculty of Medicine at Pierre and Marie Curie
University in France. Throughout his career, he has held various positions, including Assistant in Internal Medicine at Ngaliema Clinic in
Kinshasa, Assistant in Pediatrics and Practitioner in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the General Hospital of Senlis in France, and General
Pediatrician at the Regional Hospital of Chaleur in Bathurst, Canada, where he also served as the Head of the Pediatrics Department.
An expert in pediatric resuscitation, his skills encompass the management of public health programs, capacity building for health
stakeholders, high-level management of community health programs, and clinical practice in neonatal resuscitation. Under the
government of His Excellency Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI, President
of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr. Kamba was appointed Special Advisor in charge of Universal Health Coverage and later Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force for the fight against
COVID-19. In these various roles, he played a key part in supporting
the President during his tenure as Chairperson of the African Union.
As Coordinator of the National Council for Universal Health Coverage, Dr. Kamba contributed to the organization of the Universal
Health Coverage system in the DRC, facilitating the adoption of the
National Strategic Plan for Universal Health Coverage 2021-2030
and establishing facilitation structures for its implementation.
Among the significant initiatives, it is important to highlight the
implementation of free maternity care, aimed at improving access to healthcare for pregnant women and newborns, thereby
ensuring optimal maternal and child health conditions. Since his
appointment as Minister of Public Health, Hygiene, and Social Welfare, Dr. Kamba has been committed to ensuring the effective implementation of Universal Health Coverage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, working towards an inclusive and accessible
healthcare system for all.
