H.E. Robert Kupiecki
Undersecretary of State of Foreign Affairs, Republic of PolandRobert Kupiecki, is a professional diplomat since 1994, currently undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, responsible for security policy. He coordinates issues related to the Common Foreign and Security Policy as well as the Common Security and Defence Policy. He acts as the Political Director of the MFA.
Undersecretary Kupiecki supervises cooperation with the US and Canada as well as support for Ukraine and foreign aspects of Poland's defence preparations. He represents the Minister of Foreign Affairs at meetings of the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Defence and in the work of the Cyber Security Committee.
He was an intern and an expert at the MFA's Department of Planning and Analyses, Head of Unit and Deputy Director of the European Institutions Department, deputy ambassador to NATO (1999-2004), Director of the Security Policy Department (2004-2008), Poland's Ambassador in Washington (2008-2012). Deputy Minister of National Defence responsible for, among other things, the ministry's strategic planning and international activity (2012-2015).
He received a master's degree from the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw, and a PhD in political science, a professor of the University of Warsaw at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. He also graduated from Poland's National School of Public Administration and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
In 2011 he defended his habilitation degree. An author of books and papers on international relations, security, and history.
He speaks English and Russian.
