H.E. Luis Alberto Castiglioni

Former Vice President of the Republic, Republic of Paraguay

Luis Alberto Castiglioni is a Paraguayan statesman who has held some of the highest offices in his country’s public life. He served as Vice President of the Republic of Paraguay from 2003 to 2007, leading official missions abroad and promoting national priorities in foreign policy, education, trade, and sustainable development.

Throughout his extensive career, Castiglioni has occupied key positions in the executive branch, including Minister of Foreign Affairs (2018–2019) and Minister of Industry and Commerce (2020–2023), where he advanced Paraguay’s global engagement and economic competitiveness. He has also played an influential role in the legislature, serving in both the Chamber of Deputies (1998–2003) and the Senate (2013–2018; 2019–2020). His parliamentary work included participation in the Latin American Parliament and leadership roles in commissions such as Public Works and Foreign Relations.

A prominent figure within the Colorado Party, Castiglioni has held senior party leadership positions, including Political Secretary and Second Vice President of the Governing Board. Born on July 31, 1962, in Itacurubí del Rosario, he is a civil engineer by the Catholic University of Asunción
