His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye is the fourth President of the Republic of Senegal, having assumed office on April 2, 2024 at the age of 44 years. He is the youngest democratically elected president in Africa, embodying a new generation of leaders committed to change and modernization on the continent.

 

Born on March 25, 1980, in Ndiaganiao, President Faye distinguished himself early on with an unwavering commitment to public service for the development of his country.

 

He holds a degree in private law from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar and completed his specialization at the National School of Administration (ENA), where he was trained to the highest standards of public administration, later becoming a tax and land inspector.

 

He held key positions within the Senegalese administration, notably at the Directorate General of Taxes and Domains where he earned a reputation for excellence and integrity.

 

Politically, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Faye left a lasting mark on the national landscape by co-founding the PASTEF – Les Patriotes party in 2014. He assumed strategic responsibilities within the party, notably as Coordinator of Cadres and later as Secretary General from 2022 to 2024. His vision, centered on just, equitable, and transparent governance, garnered widespread support from the Senegalese population, particularly among the youth.

 

A multilingual leader, President Faye speaks French, Wolof, and Serer fluently. Married and a father of two, he is also passionate about martial arts and agriculture, remaining deeply attached to the cultural and rural roots of his country.

His presidency is focused on deep and lasting reforms, targeting institutional governance, the fight against corruption, and economic modernization. His vision is to build a prosperous and inclusive Senegal, where every citizen, without distinction, benefits from the country’s development.
