Hon. Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando is a distinguished Sri Lankan politician, economist, and finance professional, currently serving as the Cabinet Minister of Labour and the Deputy Minister of Finance & Planning. Representing the National People’s Power (NPP), he entered Parliament after the 2024 Parliamentary Election, bringing strong expertise in economic policy, labour governance, and financial management.

Dr. Fernando holds a Doctor of Business Administration, along with two Master of Business Administration degrees—one in International Business from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and another in Finance from the ESAP-EAP European Business School in Paris. He also possesses a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka reinforcing his competence in fiscal analysis and strategic financial planning.

He is a Fellow Member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka). His professional contributions and leadership in the fields of accountancy, financial governance, and economic reform have earned him a reputation for integrity, vision, and dedication to public service.
