The General Manager and Chairperson of “Fikra for Studies and Development” and one of the leading figures in the political, cultural and intellectual life in Sudan. Since the seventies of the last century, he has been a leading figure in the struggle for democracy, social change, & the national project for building a post-independent state in Sudan. He played a leading role in the peace negotiations in Sudan. He is an active participant in local, regional and international conferences, seminars, symposia, and he is a weekly writer in many local & international newspapers.
 
Examples of his works: The roots of the Sudanese crisis and the way out, Religion and the state in Sudan, The renaissance project to build a modern Sudanese state, Theories of change in Sudan, When ideology falls, Sudan and the international community, The Arab spring, Renewal of the political thoughts & thinking and Conflicts in the Middle East & the Horn of Africa.
 
He published three books: The tribe and politics in Sudan, The intellectual and change (electronic book), From Marxism to Truth (a chapter in the book “Trends of Contemporary Arab Thought”.
