Dr. Eduardo Samo Gudo
Director General , National Institute of Health, MozambiqueDr Gudo is the Director General of the National Institute of Health in Mozambique, with over 20 years’ experience in Public Health. Holds a PhD in Immunology and Virology and Post-Doctoral training on Emerging Infectious Diseases and Senior Post-Doctoral training through a fellowship from the European Foundation Initiative for African Research into Neglected Tropical Diseases between 2015 and 2018. Prior to this position, occupied the following position at the National Institute of Health in Mozambique: Deputy Director General (2018 – 2023) and Scientific Director (2014 – 2018). Dr Gudo has a long track record in coordinating Public Health Response to major health crises. During COVID-19 pandemic, served as the Deputy Chair of National Task Force on COVID19 response in Mozambique. Currently is serving as the Chair of the Advisory and Technical Council of Africa CDC, member of the Executive Committee of Lancet Commission for Sustainable Health and member of the Executive Board of International Association of National Public Health Institutes.
